Another Anniversary picture done for some good friends and colleagues of mine. This shot depicts the fictional SUPER superhero “Blackfox”, which has been a long running internal joke in our office for sometime now. Printed as a large canvas, you should head over to the blog to check out some still shots of the finished products!
Scott from Hynd Design approached me about doing some illustrations for some kids party bags, for one of his clients. It sounded like a great idea, and this was the final result – an overly generic Superhero! Skin tight and ready to fight!!
This little piece was done to mark the special day for a couple I originally met back at Supanova in April. It wasn’t long before we were piecing this one together, and being two video game enthusiasts it only seemed right to have them duke-it-out in full colour. The whole piece was a blast to put together, although we never found out who won in the end!
Here is a small selection of the images I did for the Childrens Book “Ducks Stormy Adventure”. The author, Samantha Hind, approached me with the idea and the story and I was more than happy to add my illustrations to her already amazing work. If people want to get their hands on a copy, then just email me your interest and I can help sort that out. Once the book goes on sale online, I will post a link here also :)
The team over at Your Village Idiot came to me with some sketches that they wanted turned into digital art. It was my job to take the original pencil work and turn it into what you see here. Working with someone else’s art is different to what I usually do but it was refreshing throwing my skills at another similar, but different, style of illustration.
The first of the two prints I drew during the Supanova Brisbane 2010 event. Again – thanks to all for the nice comments and those that came to watch. I love doing these live draws – and it was great that you all enjoyed watching ^__^ Thanks for a great con all, this one will be available also on the new online store hopefully in the next week!
This was the second of the two prints made during the live draw at Supanova Brisbane 2010. Thanks to all who came passed and made comments and sat and watched – it’s people like you that keep us all going ^__^ Will have prints of this up at the new online store shortly!
Limited run poster I knocked up which was for sale at Supanova Brisbane, 2010. Containing some of pop-culture’s heavyweights, I took my style to a number of these famous characters to see what life I could bring. From top left to bottom right – Link (Zelda), Little Sister (Bioshock), Bowser (Mario Series), Jack the Pumpkin King (Nightmare Before Christmas), Yoda (Star Wars), Pikachu (Pokemon) and the Joker (Batman).
Well, we didn’t catch them all, but we definitely gave it a bloody good shot! Working with Adam to construct this personalized Pokemon poster was great fun, and it was cool to add my own little style to each of the little fellas. Starting with a list of his 20 favorites, we worked pretty closely the whole way to construct the final piece shown here. Printed in A1 Gloss.
I was pretty chuffed when Falling for Sky (local Brisbane band) asked me to make them a promo poster. The boys were brave enough to let my creative juices flow, letting me come up with a piece that summed up their punk/rock musical style. I used a different colouring style to normal, as you can probably see, opting for textures and several built up layers to achieve the dirty, gritty feel the piece needed.
A good friend once asked me, “What would a cute, baby Cthulhu look like?” I couldn’t get the urge to draw it out of my head and the result quickly became one of my more popular self-promotional pieces. Not as fearsome as it’s H. P. Lovecraft’s legendary creature, this little Baby Cthulhu is now on a range of popular merchandise including t-shirts and button badges.
Another self-promotion piece, inspiration for this picture came to mind while I was taking a nap. Starting off as a doodle, I really loved the composition and felt it would look great as a poster on my wall, so I took the time to finish this one off. Everyone knows that pirates are selfish loot whores, and this little fella is no exception. Touch his loot and he might have something to say about it!
Sean first saw one of my illustration hanging up at a friends place, loved my style and was keen to get a poster for his room. He knew exactly what he wanted for his piece, an A1 poster portraying Jesus’ resurrection. I used a few textures with this one, trying to keep the angel as the picture’s focal point. A few small gradients and clean shading helped give this picture its simple and clean feeling.
My first ever commission piece! When my long time friend (and best man!) asked me to whip up a picture of his favourite Marvel superheroes, I couldn’t resist. I’m a huge comic book buff, and the opportunity to draw these guys really was something special. Not only did I get to throw my hand towards these all time superhero heavy weights – but we also got to work together on creating his own Superhero alter ego.
I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for nearly any video game – and I’m certainly no stranger to World of Warcraft. Knowing how attached people are to their own characters in game, I was really excited when asked to draw a friends Draenei mage. It was fun taking my own style to an already developed IP – I love the concept of fan art and it’s amazing to see how different artist can interprete the same character.
